Daily Schedule for 2011-2012

This is an update of a post I did in June.  I am linking it up with Simply 2nd Resources.  Hope it is useful to someone!

Typing that heading gave me a bit of a start!  2012? Is it really going to be the 2011-2012 school year?  It just seems like the other day I was getting used to writing '00' instead of '99'!  Anyway, I digress...

I decided to link up with Growing Kinders to share my daily schedule.  This really got me thinking about my schedule and if it works for the kids.  I decided it did not.  Click below to see my changes and why.

Daily Schedule: 2011-2012

Don't forget to link up with Growing Kinders and show us your schedule!

Thanks for sharing your schedule! I see that you do not have rest time or play centers - is that your choice or district mandated?

Thanks for sharing your schedule. I love seeing your comments to yourself about how to improve and use your time more wisely. I'd love to hear more about how reader's workshop will look next year in your room!

Kathleen - It is district mandated. When I taught in another district I had a rest time. I usually phased it out by Dec. It was good for the kiddos. I will admit tho that, surprisingly, most of my kiddos are fine with the no rest time after a few weeks have gone by.

Leslie - I really want to delve deeper into Debbie Miller's Reading with Meaning. I have studied this book for a couple of years and have struggled making it fit into K. It seems to be a very first/second grade based book. I am really determined this year to take the time to read the book, introduce the ideas of schema, mental images, inferring etc.. before lunch. After lunch we will focus on any writing parts that might go with such as making anchor charts, showing evidence of their understanding thru charts, venn diagrams, writing that shows predictions and thinking and so on. Maybe time to explore what our topic is in other books? I really don't have it mapped out completely. Right now I am trying to figure math workstations out!
